The course work included several translation courses (English to French) and extensive study of lexicology and terminology research and practice.
Terminology research at the Department of Translation and Linguistics of the Université de Montréal, mainly in the fields of Retail and Marketing. I was very involved in the editing stages of the Dictionnaire analytique de la distribution/Analalytical Dictionary of Retailing by Jeanne Dancette (available online here). My research project added a Dutch component and commentary to a selection of the terms of this dictionary.
I spent 4 1/2 years in Guinea, West-Africa, where amongst other activities, I translated and interpreted from English to French. I also had the opportunity to learn the Pular language and the Fula culture.
From 2008 to 2009, I worked in the field of Mechanical Engineering, in particular heating technology, editing French manuals and translating from English to French. Since then, I worked on a variety of projects in a freelance capacity.
Since my accreditation as a court interpreter in Ontario, I have worked as an interpreter in the Ontario courts in English, French and Dutch.
Besides translation and interpretation, I am also a lecturer Dutch at the University of Waterloo, Ontario.
My main working languages are French, Portuguese and English to Dutch.
I also have a good understanding of German and Spanish.
