Source text - Italian La chiesa di Santa Pudenziana, trova le sue origini nell’epoca paleocristiana, è situata nell’attuale Via Urbana che corrisponde all’antico Vicus Patricius. Occupa un sito nella valle tra i colli Viminale e Esquilino.
Sotto la chiesa sono presenti resti del periodo Romano ad oggi inaccessibili per instabilità strutturale. A livello del terreno, dietro l’abside, si può osservare la muratura antica e l’odierna pianta della chiesa rispetta coerentemente l’originaria. Continua, ancora oggi, il dibattito sulla natura stessa della costruzione romana.
La tradizione racconta che San Pietro fu ospite nella casa del senatore Pudente in Vicus Patricius e che lì fu battezzato il senatore e tre dei suoi figli: Pudenziana, Prassede e Timoteo. In seguito questi domandarono e ottennero da Pio I ( 140- 155) Risulta confermato nel ‘Liber Pontificalis’ e San Paolo fa menzione di un certo Pudente nella sua seconda lettera a Timoteo, ma non ci sono altre prove di questa versione della prima parte della storia della chiesa.
Il periodo in questione intorno al 150 d.c. fu un momento di accettazione tacita e di una certa tolleranza della pratica del cristianesimo da parte dell’autorità imperiale. La Chiesa stessa stava crescendo rapidamente, soprattutto tra gli strati poveri della società e nasceva così il bisogno di organizzazione. Già nel 100 d.c. Evaristo divise la città di Roma in parrocchie o ‘tituli’ e nel 236 d.c. Fabiano usò questa strutturazione per dare forma a un embrionale collegio di cardinali, a ognuno dei quali era assegnato un ‘titulus’ permanente come ‘tituls pudentis’.
Translation - English The church of Saint Pudentiana, with its origins in the early christian era, lies on the present-day Via Urbana which corresponds to the antique Vicus Patricius. It occupies a site in the valley between the Viminal and Esquiline hills.
There are extant remains of the Roman period beneath the church which are currently inaccessible due to structural instability. At ground level brickwork in the walls behind the apse is clearly of antique origin, and the basic plan of the current building reflects that of the preceding structure. There continues to be much debate as to the nature of the buildings from the antique period.
Tradition suggests that Saint Peter was a guest at the house on the Vicus Patricius of a Senator Pudens, and that there he baptised the senator and three of his children: Pudentiana, Praxedes and Timotheus. These then requested and obtained the institution of a regular parish assembly or ‘titulus’ from Pius I (140-155). Although confirmed in the ‘Liber Pontificalis’, and while a Pudens is mentioned in Saint Paul’s second letter to Timothy, there is no further proof of this version of events.
The period in question c.150 a.d. was one of tacit acceptance and a certain tollerance of the practice of christianity on the part of the imperial authorities. The Church itself was growing rapidly, mostly among the poorer sections of society, and with this growth came a need for organisation. As early as 100 a.d Evaristus had divided the city of Rome into parishes or ‘tituli’, and by 236 a.d. Fabian had used this structure to lay the foundations of a college of cardinals, each tied to a permanent ‘titulus’ such as the ‘titulus pudentis’.

Hi Andrea...we have various minor problems with the D-640 scanners...they are rather unreliable, we have been advised that the D-250 was more reliable...do you have any information regards this? Have all of the D-640s that you have sold up to now worked well? Are your other clients happy with them?
(by unreliable I mean the software/hardware and not problems with accidental knocks during normal use)
