Ana Maria Zúñiga Malvino has been a translation and interpretation industry leader for over 25 years; she is a Certified Translator (C.T.) from English to Spanish and a member in good standing of each of the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia (STIBC), the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO), the Association of Translator and Interpreters of Alberta (ATIA), , and the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council
(CTTIC); she also an associate member in good standing of the American Translators Association (ATA). She is fluent in several languages, including English, French and her native Spanish; she also reads and understands spoken Portuguese.
Ana Maria obtained a Bachelor in English–Spanish and French–Spanish Translation from the Escuela Americana de Traductores e Intérpretes in Santiago, Chile; and she obtained certification as a Court Interpreter, Healthcare Interpreter and Community Interpreter from Vancouver Community College in Vancouver, Canada.
Ana Maria is a recipient of the 2015 RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award and was named 2015 Business Person of the Year for the 18th Annual Business Excellence Awards sponsored by the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. Her company, AZ World Translation and Interpretation Inc. was named one of the Top 5 Best Company nominees in the 11th Annual Small Business BC Awards in 2014.
Ana María belongs to industry organizations including: Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), The Association for Mineral Exploration of British Columbia (AMEBC), and the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade (GVBOT).
Professional and Industry Experience
Ana Maria has substantial experience leading, coordinating and delivering translation and interpretation projects that require: conducting linguistic analyses and risk evaluations; liaising with client internal and external stakeholders to discuss best practices and, where needed, developing mitigation strategies; providing support to linguists and clients; and providing advice regarding linguistic and cultural matters concerning the Spanish language.
Her clients span a number of industries including: finance, audit, insurance, legal, mining, construction, environmental, engineering, software, information technology, manufacturing, publishing, video games, medical, and health care industries and the public sector.
