Imperial Suites’ first American hotel revels in sheer, unabashed luxury. Acquired by the Hong Kong-based hotel company in 1988, the Beaux Arts-style former Grosvenor Hotel now offers Asia’s utmost standard of service in Midtown Manhattan. The tradition that began in 1928 with the original Pearl Hotel in Hong Kong now extends to a host of other fine hostelries around the world.
Once past the five-bayed Fifth Avenue facade of hand-carved limestone, guests of The Pearl check in at a small, discreet front desk. From the reception area to the restaurants, all public spaces surround visitors with the swirling romance of Art Nouveau styling, a mode that reached its first height of glory in late nineteenth century Paris. Works of art by such French masters as Majorelle, Gallé, Mercier, and Gaillard set off handmade European carpets, marble floors and staircases, mahogany and burl wood wall panelling and glittering chandeliers.
The opulence of Paris in an earlier age infuses the private quarters as well. Among 250 rooms and suites, the largest measures over XXX. All are spacious and filled with custom-designed furnishings-such as Art Nouveau cabinets to hide remote-control TV’s, king-sized hardwood head-boards with curvaceous Belle Epoque designs, billowing balloon shades covering the windows, and cherubs and flowers garlanding the lamps.
Marble baths soothe travellers with spacious showers, XXX tubs, bidets, robes, slippers, and Lanvin toiletries displayed on white china trays. Messages arrive at a guest’s front door on a silver platter carried by a page in white gloves and pillbox hat. Such extraordinary service echoes the Imperial Suites standard in everything they do from same day laundry and dry cleaning to daily newspaper delivery, citywide beepers, valet parking, and room service around the clock.

C’est que en effet, en Champagne comme dans tout autre vignoble , les vendanges varient chaque année tant en qualité qu’en quantité. Pour tempérer ces inégalités, LAURENT-PERRIER a toujours adopté la politique courageuse de limiter strictement les expéditions de ses vins des grandes années. De telle sorte qu’en conservant en stock une part très importante de millésimes, ceux-ci puissent venir à point s’assembler aux vins d’une année moins équilibrée et donc assurer au Brut L.P. sa qualité constante.
S’il n’est de bon Champagne que de bons crus, il faut préciser qu’en Champagne viticole l’échelle des crus, fixée par la loi, s’étale de 80% à 100%. LAURENT-PERRIER n’utilise pour ses assemblages que des crus dont la moyenne s’établit très largement au-dessus de 90%.
Mais seul un très large stock, tout particulièrement de “vins de réserve” qui proviennent des grandes années millésimées, peut permettre à LAURENT-PERRIER d’assurer la continuité de la qualité de ses cuvées et du style qui lui est propre, singulièrement pour le Brut L.P.
Fin, délicat, fruité, ce Brut est le symbole du Champagne dans le goût actuel des connaisseurs. C’est une harmonie subtile de finesse , d’élégance et de distinction.

Se è vero che un grande champagne deve necessariamente provenire da vigneti pregiati, occorre precisare che nella provincia viticola della Champagne la classificazione dei vigneti, fissata per legge, va dall’80% al 100%. LAURENT-PERRIER per i suoi assemblaggi utilizza esclusivamente dei vigneti la cui media si aggira di gran lunga al di sopra del 90%.
Soltanto scorte abbondanti, in particolare quelle dei “vini riserva” di grandi annate millesimate, possono tuttavia permettere a LAURENT-PERRIER di assicurare una qualità costante alle cuvée e allo stile che lo caratterizza, in particolar modo per il Brut L.P.
