I am an American of Swedish descent. I spent two years in Sweden studying at the university level, and then pursued graduate studies in Germanic languages while teaching undergraduate level Swedish at the University of Minnesota.
After I earned a library degree, my career path took me into the business world: I joined the field of online information just when the boom in search began. I began as a researcher of online technical literature, patents and trademarks, working together with engineers to tackle difficult projects. From there I moved to the investment firm American Express Financial Advisors, providing on-demand research to portfolio managers and analysts in all sorts of fields, from petroleum to Barbie dolls. At the same time I published numerous freelance articles covering information products and conferences for industry trade publications.
Seven years ago I returned to Scandinavian languages, my first love, and have been doing freelance translation work from Swedish, Norwegian and Danish into English. I can offer excellent translation, writing and proofreading skills, and first-hand experience with the needs of demanding business users. |
