Source text - English FALLS PREVENTION FOR SENIORS
For people over 65, falls are the leading injury-related causes of death. More Floridians 65 years of age and older die from falls than any other injury-related cause, according to the Florida Department of Health, Emergency Medical Services Office. In fact, Florida has had the second highest incidence of death related to geriatric falls in the nation.
“When an elderly person is injured by a fall there is a high likelihood that they will never regain their full mobility or independence,” stated Alan Levine, Secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), “By providing fall prevention services our goal is to prolong independence and quality of life for our many elderly residents.”
Many falls are preventable. Throw rugs, clutter, objects in pathways and pets are all common contributors to falls.
Translation - Spanish PREVENCIÓN DE CAÍDAS EN PERSONAS MAYORES
