English to Spanish: Asset Allocation/Distribución de Activos
Source text - English Asset Allocation
Asset allocation is nothing more than the distribution of investments among the major asset classes: stocks, bonds, and cash equivalents.
The key to optimal asset allocation is diversification, which simply means spreading your assets among these classes to reduce risk and increase the potential for higher returns. In other words, not putting all your eggs in one basket.
By identifying the right mix of assets for your portfolio, you can increase long-term investment returns without increasing risk, or decrease risk without sacrificing investment returns.
The same allocation is not right for everyone. The choice depends on your time frame for investing, tax bracket, age, income needs, comfort with more aggressive investments, and other factors.
This diversification concept and the techniques needed to implement it are sometimes known as modern portfolio theory. They are based on the work of Dr. Harry Markowitz, the 1990 Nobel Laureate for Economic Science, and have been applied by managers of large institutional portfolios.
According to a 1991 study by Brinson, Singer, and Beebower titled "Determinants of Portfolio Performance II: An Update," asset allocation can account for more than 90% of a portfolio's performance. Less than 10% is due to the choice of individual securities and market timing (buying when a stock is down and selling when it is up).
Our proprietary asset allocation models range from conservative to aggressive. Each combines different types of stocks, bonds, and cash instruments in varying ratios, depending upon your level of risk tolerance.
Using the model best suited to your financial needs and goals, Citicorp Financial Services Corporation can help put asset allocation to work for you.
The distribution ratio of different asset classes is the factor that can most affect a portfolio’s performance.

Translation - English Obama to Push Immigration Reform This Year
But will focus on health care first.
A young man carries a cross covered with signatures during a pilgrimage though several Georgia towns advocating for immigration reform.
Washington - U.S. President Barack Obama plans to start work on immigration reform this year which will include a path for illegal aliens to legalize their status, according to statements made to the New York Times by White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs Cecilia Muñoz.
Yesterday’s issue of the paper reported that Obama plans to make an official announcement in May and to set up work groups at mid-year to begin talks about getting immigration legislation passed during the fourth quarter.
White House staffers assured The Times that changes to the immigration system will not take a front seat to the health and energy reforms that Obama has placed among the top priorities of his administration.
The huge number of illegal aliens in the U.S. has been a source of wealth for the nation’s powerful. They are not about to give up this vast mass of what amounts to slave labor which enables them to grow richer on the backs of illegal aliens. That’s why I believe this particular topic will likely remain under lock and key inside the new president’s desk.
The U.S. President assured voters during his election campaign that one of his priorities during his first year in office would be getting legislation passed that would enable the estimated 12 million illegal alients in the country to obtain legal status.
The Hispanic community strongly supported the Democratic leader at last year’s November 4th elections.
“He intends to gets the debate started this year,” said Muñoz.
The Times pointed out that the current economic crisis could make immigration reform a thorny topic during a year in whcih the White House faces a number of major battles.
Opponents of Obama’s immigration reform, which includes many Republicans, insist they will try to mobilize public opinion against any attempt to grant legal status to illegal aliens at a time when many U.S. citizens find themselves unemployed.
According to The Times, there is also a fear among Democrats that re-opening the controversial immigration debate could hurt Obama’s domestic agenda.
The paper stressed that the when and how for dealing with immigration reform remains under discussion.
Nor has it been made clear who is to spearhead the Obama initiative in Congress.
Capitol sources said no substantive conversations regarding immigration legislation are expected to take place until after the Administration’s higher priorities have been debated.
