Professional Profile
I am a native English translator, editor and interpreter with more than 18 years of experience translating from Portuguese and Spanish into English. Based between Ireland, Brazil and Portugal, I have worked with clients across a wide range of sectors, including legal, medical, academic, technical, corporate and audiovisual translation.
I hold BA and MA degrees in English and have completed specialist training in translation, subtitling, closed captioning, transcription and localization. Since 2005, I have worked as a freelance translator and copy editor, collaborating with certified translators and language service providers in Brazil, Ireland and internationally.
My experience includes legal and medical translation, academic editing, language quality assurance (LQA), linguistic review, dubbing adaptation and copywriting. I have translated and edited master's dissertations, doctoral theses, scientific articles, technical documentation, marketing materials and journalistic content.
As a qualified interpreter, I have worked in the Irish public sector, including the courts and social welfare system, providing interpreting services in both civil and criminal proceedings.
I have also served as the official translator for academic journals including Revista Estudos Feministas (UFSC) and Revista Brasileira de Estudos da Presença (UFRGS), translating scholarly articles for international publication.
Additional areas of expertise include information technology, e-learning, healthcare, media, sport, mining and audiovisual translation.
I am proficient in a range of industry-standard CAT and language technology tools, including Trados Studio, Subtitle Edit and Express Scribe.
