En quoi consiste l’activité de VF XXXXXX ?
Créée en 2011, VF XXXXXX développe des compléments alimentaires innovants à base de bactéries lactiques. Nos programmes de recherche visent à isoler de nouvelles souches probiotiques pour des applications santé très spécifiques: prévention de l'ostéoporose, des maladies cardio-vasculaires, métaboliques, inflammatoires... Nous nous concentrons donc principalement sur les maladies liées au vieillissement.
Travaillez-vous à l’international ?
Les Etats-Unis constituent notre principal client. Mais VF XXXXXX est aussi présente en Europe du Nord, au Danemark et dans les pays baltes, ainsi qu'au Benelux, en Espagne, en Italie. Nous nous développons également en Asie du Sud-Est.
Votre siège social se situe à Loos, dans le département du Nord ? Pour quelles raisons ?
VF XXXXXX s’est installée dans le département du Nord en raison de l’environnement économique et des possibilités en termes de collaboration universitaire. Nous avons aussi été attirés par l’existence d’Eurasanté, centre d’excellence scientifique situé à Loos précisément, et du pôle de compétitivité lillois Nutrition-Santé-Longévité (NSL). Deux projets collaboratifs ont d'ailleurs récemment démarré, l'un avec l’Institut Charles Viollette de l’université Lille-1 et l’autre avec l’INSERM, à l’université Lille-2. Le premier projet concerne le traitement de l’ostéoporose et le deuxième, celui du diabète et ses complications.

What does VF XXXXXX do?
Created in 2011, VF XXXXXX develops innovative food supplements containing lactic bacteria. Our research programmes aim to isolate new probiotic strands for very specific health applications: prevention of osteoporosis, cardiovascular, metabolic, inflammatory diseases… We therefore concentrate mainly on diseases related to ageing.
Do you work internationally?
The United States is our main customer. But VF XXXXXX is also present in Northern Europe, in Denmark and the Baltic States, as well as Benelux, Spain and Italy. We are also expanding in Southeast Asia.
Your registered head office is located in Loos, in the Nord department? What are your reasons for this?
VF XXXXXX settled in the department of Nord because of the economic environment and the possibilities in terms of university collaboration. We were also attracted by the presence of Eurasanté, a centre of scientific excellence located precisely in Loos, and the Nutrition-Health-Longevity (NSL) centre of expertise in Lille. Two collaborative projects started recently, one with the Institute Charles Viollette of Lille-1 university and the other with INSERM, at Lille-2 university. The first project relates to the treatment of osteoporosis and the second to diabetes and its complications.
I am fully bilingual in English and French. I spent ten years in England and ten years in France respectively during my education; first at a private boarding school in France, followed by a Classe Preparatoire for the Ecole Normale and then Oxford University.
My time in the financial sector, working as an investment analyst in European and Emerging markets, as well as managing large clients in the US and Canada, some French-speaking, gives me excellent experience to draw on when dealing with translations in that field and others. I believe this is what can give the translated text real relevance to its end purpose.
I am also a writer and able to convey the sense as well as the meaning of a text, in either direction.
My knowledge of grammar and syntax is the result of studying Classics; Latin and Greek are at the origin of a large proportion of both the French and English languages.
