Source text - English On Friday, a lawyer named Anthony Falzone filed his side’s first big brief in the case of Warner Bros. Entertainment and J. K. Rowling v. RDR Books. Mr. Falzone is employed by Stanford Law School, where he heads up the Fair Use Project, which was founded several years ago by Lawrence Lessig, perhaps the law school’s best-known professor. Mr. Falzone and the other lawyers at the Fair Use Project are siding with the defendant, RDR Books, a small book publisher based in Muskegon, Mich. As you can see from the titans who have brought the suit, RDR Books needs all the legal firepower it can muster.
As you can probably also see, the case revolves around Harry Potter. J. K. Rowling, of course, is the creator of the Harry Potter series — “one of the most successful writers the world has ever known,” crowed Neil Blair of the Christopher Little Literary Agency, which represents her. Warner Brothers holds the license to the Harry Potter movies. Of the two plaintiffs, though, Ms. Rowling appears to be the one driving the litigation.
“I feel as though my name and my works have been hijacked, against my wishes, for the personal gain and profit of others and diverted from the charities I intended to benefit,” she said in a declaration to the court.
And what perfidious act of “hijacking” has RDR Books committed? It planned to publish a book by Steven Vander Ark, who maintains a fansite called the Harry Potter Lexicon. The Lexicon publishes Harry Potter essays, finds Harry Potter mistakes, explains Harry Potter terminology, devises Harry Potter timelines and does a thousand other things aimed at people who can’t get enough Harry Potter. It’s a Harry Potter encyclopedia for obsessive fans.
So long as the Lexicon was a free Web site, Ms. Rowling looked kindly upon it. But when Mr. Vander Ark tried to publish part of the Lexicon in book form — and (shudder!) to make a profit — Ms. Rowling put her foot down. She claims that she wants to publish her own encyclopedia someday and donate the proceeds to charity — and a competing book by Mr. Vander Ark would hurt the prospects for her own work.
Entertainment)和J.K.

Source text - English Usually, if I duck my head and walk briskly, I can make it past the playground at West 81st Street. I start preparing in the elevator, my eyes on the long brass arrow as it ticks down from the seventh, sixth, fifth, fourth floor. Sometimes the elevator stops and one of my neighbors gets on, and I have no choice but to crack the carapace of my anticipatory solitude and pretend civility. If it’s one of the younger ones, the guitar player with the brush of red hair and the peeling skin, say, or the movie executive in the low-slung, rumpled jeans and the buttery leather coat, it’s enough to muster a polite nod of the head. The older ones require more.
The steel-haired women in the self-consciously bohemian dresses, folds of purple peeping from under the hems of black wool capes, demand conversation about the weather, or the spot of wear on the oriental carpet runner in the lobby, or the front page of the arts section. That is quite nearly too much to bear, because don’t they see that I am busy? Don’t they realize that obsessive self-pity is an all-consuming activity that leaves no room for conversation? Don’t they know that the entrance to the park lies right next to the 81st Street playground and that if I am not completely prepared, if I do not clear my mind, stop my ears to all sounds other than my own breathing, it is entirely possible – likely even – that instead of striding boldly past the playground with my hands in my pockets and my eyes on the bare gray branches of the trees or on the brown patches of mud and grass, I will collapse outside the playground gate, the shrill voices of the children keening in my skull?
Don’t they understand, these ladies with their petitions and their dead banker husbands and bulky Tod’s purses, that if I let them distract me with talk of Republicans stealing elections or Palestinian suicide bombers or whether Mrs. Katz from 2B saw Anthony the new doorman asleep behind the desk last Tuesday night, if I let them divert my attention, I will not make it past the playground to the refuge of the park beyond. Don’t they get that the barbaric assault of their voices, the impatient thumping of their Lucite canes as they wait insistently for my mumbled replies, will prevent me from getting to the only place in the entire city where I am able to approximate serenity? They will force me instead to trudge along the 79th Street Transverse, pressed against the grimy stone walls, inhaling exhaust fumes from cross-town busses and dodging careening taxicabs all the way to the East Side? They will force me to take a cab?

English to Chinese: What would you fight for? Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English I am not sure I would always fight for my life.
Life might not be worth fighting for.
I am not sure I would always fight for my wife.
A wife isn't always worth fighting for.
Nor my children, nor my country, nor my fellow-men.
It all deprnds whether I found them worth fighting for.
The only thing men invariably fight for
Is their money. But I doubt if I'd fight for mine, anyhow
not to shed a lot of blood over it.
Yet one thing I do fight for, tooth and nail, all the time.
And that is my bit of inward peace, where I am at one
with myself.
And I must say, I am often worsted.
Translation - Chinese
English to Chinese: My Naughty Book Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English They say I wrote a naughty book
With perfectly awful things in it,
putting in all the impossible words
like b---- and f--- and sh--.
Most of my friends were deeply hurt
and haven't forgiven me yet;
I'd loaded the camel's back before
with dirt they couldn't forget.
And now, no really, the final straw
was words like sh-- and f--!
I heard the camel's back go crack
beneath the weight of muck
Then out of nowhere rushed John Bull,
that mildewed pup, good doggie!
squeakily bellowing for all he was worth,
and slavering wet and soggy.
He couldn't bite 'em he was much too old,
but he made a pool of dribblings;
so while the other one heaved her sides
with moans and hollow bibblings
he did his best, the good old dog
to support her, the hysterical camel,
and everyone listend and loved it, the
ridiculus bimmel-bammel.
But still, one has no right to take
the old dog's greenest bones
that he's buried now for centuries
beneath England's garden stones.
And, of course, one has no right to lay
such words to the camel's charge
when she prefers to have them left
in the W.C. writ large.
Poor homely words, I must give you back
to the camel and the dog,
for her to mumble and him to crack
in secret, great golliwog!
And hereby I apologise
to all my foes and friends
for using words they privately keep
for their own immortal ends.
And henceforth I will never use
more than the chaste, short dash;
so do forgive me! I sprinkle my hair
with grey, repentant ash.
