Bio

GermanSpeaking.org is a project created by me, David Marshall. I enjoyed learning languages from an early age at primary school, and went on to study French and German (BA) at Cardiff University. I also had the opportunity to work as a British Council English Language Assistant in a German school – an amazing experience with some fantastic people, and great fun too.

After graduating over 10 years ago, I started working for Atradius Collections, a global credit management company based in Cardiff. Alongside my main duties working in the Sales team, it was here that I began to take my first steps towards becoming a translator as part of the internal Translation Network.

Opportunities began to arise, and in 2010 I officially began working as a freelance German to English translator. Nowadays, I am based in the beautiful South Hams in Devon, England. I translate all sorts of texts, including financial, legal, technical and commercial documents (nothing too specialist though) and I have a good working knowledge of translation software such as SDL Trados, Across, Memsource and TStream.

Many thanks, David
