I am a professional translator and interpreter and working with Dundee City Council, Dundee, UK since 2002.
I have been helping the translation service in establishing a strong bond with the minority community through this service, where I am translating and interpreting the communication between the clients and the service providers e.g. crown court, social work, social services, GP surgeries and hospital, Prison service etc.
I am an active member of role play team where we propagate the importance and needs of minority languages in health system by showcasing real life scenerio to 4th year medical students at Ninewells Hospital and make them aware about the translation and interpretation services. We provide the same service to the GPs too.
I am an active member of DCLAG (Dundee Community Language Advisory Group) and is the organiser of Bengali class for the kids and young children.
I am the vice chairman of EMIG (Ethnic Minority Information Group) where we do publish a newsletter in 6 languages (English, Bengali, Chines, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi). |
