In 1968 I graduated from the translation department of the 1st Moscow State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages (now Moscow Linguistic State University).
Mother tongue: RUSSIAN.
English major – vast experience in translation of scientific, technical, business and literary texts from and into English.
French (the second diploma language) and POLISH (learned independently) – good reading knowledge, good experience of translation into Russian
For over 20 years an in-house TECHNICAL TRANSLATOR at YUZHNIIMF, Odessa, Ukraine, (a marine research and development institute – different aspects of maritime engineering and economics with special emphasis on the prevention of sea pollution by oil and on other environmental issues).
From 1991 mainly a free-lance.
A free-lance engagement with the Novosti Nedely (“News of the Week”) and Vesti (“News”), which are major Russian newspapers in Israel. Over 300 published translations.
Subtitling experience – over 60 educational films.
As a LITERARY TRANSLATOR I have to my credit a book of stories translated into Russian (Conrad Aiken, I.B. Singer, Somerset Maugham, James Thurber and others) which was published in Odessa in 1996. Also a number of other translations in prose and verse.
My literary translations appeared in the “Vestnik” (“Messenger”), a fortnightly Russian-American magazine, and on several websites.
