As a native British English speaker resident in the UK, I have been editing and proofreading texts written by non-native speakers for nearly 17 years. While my background is in history, my academic publication work covers a variety of subjects including European politics, sociology and ethnography. 

Projects I have worked, among many others, on include:

- Regular editing of a biannual European political journal and several books on European politics,

- Theses on waste and recycling practices in Far-East Asia,

- A book and exhibition guide on packaging and gift-giving,

- Sociological studies on parenting and trust in the authorities (including during the COVID-19 pandemic), and

- Theses on music cultures in Asia.

In addition to academic projects, I also undertake a wide range of marketing work, covering everything from log cabins to restaurant menus. I am happy to undertake the editing of texts in most subject areas, as long as they are not too technical.

As well as editing texts by non-native speakers, I have localised several million words of US English to UK English, also across a wide variety of subject areas – from gemstones, recruitment and tourism texts to websites for agricultural and medical equipment. I am happy to build glossaries and always carry out the necessary research to ensure that I am using the correct terminology. I also provide transcreation services, including cultural compatibility analyses of marketing materials.

I have access to style guides, language tools and reference works, and adapt my work to fit with the style of the piece. I always aim to ensure that the final document reads clearly and fluently without losing the author's meaning. I am always happy to follow a specific style guide and can deal with reference formatting for an additional fee. I complete every piece of work to the highest standard, on time, on every occasion.
