Translation - English 1- Anti-Infeccious medicines
Anti-infeccious medicines in general and antimicrobian in particular have been demonstranting and unquestionable efficacy in infection treatment, with its therapeutic utility being irrefutable. However, after their introduction in clinical practice, was rapidly verified that different microrganisms were susceptible of acquiring resistance to the medicines that they were initially sensible, being the staphylococcus producers of beta-lactamases example the most well known. The rise of resistant strains, as a result of natural selection, is nowadays a concerning reality. Generalized and untimely using of a large spectrum antimicrobian therapeutic, favours the proliferation and selection of the resistant microrganisms, eliminating the less resistant strains.

A negatively-charged S. aureus antigen contains .beta.-hexosamine as a major carbohydrate component. S. aureus strains that carry the antigen account for nearly all of the clinically significant strains of S. aureus that are not Type 5 or Type 8 strains. The antigen can be used in combination with S. aureus Type 5 polysaccharide antigen and S. aureus Type 8 polysaccharide antigen to provide nearly 100% coverage of S. aureus infection. The antigen and antibodies to the antigen are useful in kits and assays for diagnosing S. aureus infection. A whole cell vaccine of cells that contain the antigen is particularly useful in the treatment of mastitis.

Um antígeno S. aureus com carga negativa contém β-hexosamina como o componente carbohidrato principal. As estirpes de S. aureus que transportam o antígeno contabilizam quase todas as estirpes clinicamente significativas de S. aureus que não são Tipo 5 ou Tipo 8. O antígeno pode ser usado em combinação com o antígeno polissacárido S. aureus do Tipo 5 e com o antígeno polissacárido S. aureus do Tipo 8 para fornecer aproximadamente 100% de cobertura contra infecção por S. aureus.
