All analyses were triply performed using analytical quality reactives.
For pH determination a BECKMAN pHmeter with a combined ORION glass electrode was used. The soil extracts in water were 1:5.
Phosphorous extraction was accomplished following the Olsen method in two ways: a) a ROLCO shaker and b) a TESTLAB ultrasonic washer mod. TB010, with 10,4 liters capacity at a working frequency of 34 Khz and ultrasonic potency of 300 W.
For detection, the Murphy & Riley, 1962, Molybdenum Blue Method was applied (1), using ascorbic acid as reducer. The wavelength = 660 nm absorption was measured in a UNICAM UV- visible spectrophotometer
The work was performed on soil samples from the province of Santiago del Estero, Argentina (of risk and risk-free areas) which were prepared for analysis according to regulations in force.
A stock solution of 2,5 g P mL-1 was prepared from KH2PO4, and by dilution 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 g P mL-1 solutions were prepared to be used for calibration.
