Source text - English Process
Ore Upgrading – Pre-concentration by magnetic separation could increase the
autoclave feed grade, potentially resulting in increased metal production.
Screening to remove un-mineralized silica clasts should also be revisited on xxx ore.
Sulphuric Acid Production – Roasting pyrite from xxx copper mine in northern xxx could provide a lower cost sulphur source than
buying elemental sulphur. xxx does not currently produce a pyrite concentrate and would have to invest capital to do so.
Magnesia Supply - A local supply of magnesia may be cheaper than imported magnesia from xxx Magnesia.
Atmospheric Leaching - Atmospheric leaching technology instead of HPAL could offer capital cost savings, lower maintenance costs and higher plant reliability but at the expense of lower metal recovery and higher acid and limestone consumption. It would also offer an alternate process if transport of the autoclaves to site proves impossible.
Infrastructure
Electricity Supply - The xxx river basin southwest of xxx has unused
hydroelectric potential which could reduce the cost of power if developed.
Recycle Water - Water from the tailings pond could be used for slurrying the ore from the xxx mine rather than using fresh water from the xxx river.
Effluent Management – The effluent discharge rate and the size of the treatment
plant could be optimized by the addition of a treated water pond.
