Told by my university tutor that translation was a "boring" career choice I stuck to my guns and achieved my goal of freelance translator by way of inhouse translating for a multinational construction firm and a Madrid law firm, picking up skills in other fields along the way, Following my degree in French and Spanish many years ago I moved to Spain and I am currently settled in Jerez de la Frontera in Southern Spain. Although the bulk of my work involves legal and technical translations (heavy machinery, ship building, construction etc) I have a particular interest in gastronomy and tourism, and my copy writing skills are helpful here as in other fields such as marketing and advertising. |
