Translation - English Background
XXX was created in response to the changes in Colombian electricity regulations arising from the 2004 National Development Plan, which created a major business challenge.
Managing the electricity supply to the most disadvantaged districts is a problem throughout Latin America. For the first time ever, a company was formed exclusively to supply these areas. Rather than being a thorn in the side of an electricity supply company, the disadvantaged areas became the exclusive market of a company that was created specifically to provide them with power.
One of the differentiating factors of XXX is that its management model seeks to create employment in the communities to which it sells: the new company allows more flexible payment terms to adapt to the economic realities of these districts, i.e. the frequency of payment can be tailored to these districts' income patterns.
Nearly a quarter of the Colombian population (i.e. around 10 million people) lived on the Caribbean coast and 69.7% of the coastal population were below the poverty line.
This means that 301,112 families were living with substandard electricity supplies in shanty towns on the Caribbean coast that were up to 30 years old.
Most of this population operated in the informal economy (peddlers and hawkers) and used their homes as workshops, carrying on small business activities which required the use of power and power networks.

Translation - English Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience my letter may cause; however, I feel obliged to write as I am president of an association and I provide a social service for another, the details of which are enclosed.
As you are aware, residence permits are non-renewable since we are Europeans, which I agree with.
However, how are we supposed to prove our identity? Our identity card is not valid in France, it cannot be used to issue a cheque, it is not proof of identity and sometimes two forms of identity are needed if a large sum is involved.

Years of experience: 19. Registered at ProZ.com: Jul 2002.
I have been working as a freelance translator since 2002 both for translation agencies and directly for customers.
I worked as an In-house Translator for Deloitte - PMS in Madrid, Spain, where I translated financial statements of large corporations and Deloitte’s internal documents. I developed a specialism in financial translation, I revised texts of other translators and proofread my own texts. I utilised a wide range of resources and compiled my own glossary. I was motivated to produce a high calibre of work within tight deadlines.
Prior to that I completed a traineeship at the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium in the Directorate-General for Translation. I translated financial, economic and legal texts from French, Spanish and Portuguese into English. I had training on Trados and machine translation and I gained familiarity with the tools and aids used in translation departments and the practices of professional translators. I also acquired insight into EU policies and the operation of the institutions and understanding Commission procedures.
