English to Portuguese: CDC: Drug-resistant ‘nightmare bacteria’ poses growing threat General field: Science
Source text - English CDC: Drug-resistant ‘nightmare bacteria’ poses growing threat
“Nightmare bacteria” with unusual resistance to antibiotics of last resort were found more than 200 times in the United States last year in a first-of-a-kind hunt to see how much of a threat these rare cases are becoming, health officials said last week.
That’s more than they had expected to find, and the true number is probably higher because the effort involved only certain labs in each state, officials say.
The problem mostly strikes people in hospitals and nursing homes who need IVs and other tubes that can get infected. In many cases, others in close contact with these patients also harbored the superbugs even though they weren’t sick — a risk for further spread.
Translation - Portuguese CDC: ‘Bactérias do pesadelo’ resistentes a medicamentos representam uma ameaça crescente
English to Portuguese: Why Do Children Learn Foreign Languages So Easily? General field: Other Detailed field: Education / Pedagogy
Source text - English Why Do Children Learn Foreign Languages So Easily?
Many researchers believe that learning foreign language before the puberty and even better earlier allows children to speak more fluently, almost like native speakers.
In addition, learning more than one language at early age improves lifelong ability to communicate with others and contributes to cognitive development and cultural awareness.
Many studies suggest that the best time to introduce a foreign language is before the age of ten.
At this early stage of life language is learned and acquired faster, retained better, and spoken with exceptional pronunciation.
