Bio
Nia is a multilingual educator with experience in bilingual higher education consulting, foreign language/ESL instruction, education research and curriculum development. Over the last decade, she has been traveling the world, teaching and developing young minds to prepare them for success in the classroom and the world beyond. Working in a variety of education systems has allowed her to understand many learning styles and develop better tools to help pupils become confident, expressive, and engaged critical thinkers.

Nia started her career in education, by studying languages and cultures in hopes to become an interpreter. While interning at a Reggio Emilia-instruction, Mandarin-immersion school, she fell in love with education research, especially understanding progressive and engaging teaching pedagogy. She graduated from Mt. Holyoke College in 2012 with a BA in Anthropology and Mandarin Language, with credits in Spanish, Portuguese, and Urdu.

As of late, she mostly uses her passion for languages in volunteer projects & Translators Without Borders. She most recently added Lusamia (Bantu language family) to her skill set. While volunteering with the Peace Corps in Uganda, she learned and used Lusamia, along with other the local languages, including Swahili, Luteso, Luganda, and Runyakole. She translated for public health campaigns and classroom activities as a Literacy Specialist. In her spare time, she brushes up on her skills on Duolingo, eats/cooks food from different cultures, travels and spends time with her loved ones.
