Introduction

Nyob zoo os! My name is Travis. I am both an avid student and a motivated teacher of the Hmong language. I have been learning Hmong since 2011 and in 2013 I moved to the north of Thailand to continue my language studies and more immerse myself in the Hmong culture.

I, along with my wife, continue to teach Hmong language, reading, and grammar on our website: StudyHmong.com. It is a passionate hobby.

I have also been studying the Thai language continuously since 2013, including 4 years of education through a private language school called Walen (www.thaiwalen.com)

Education

As mentioned above, I have received 4 years of private education in Thai.

I have also received about 1.5 years of translation training and vocational experience from a non-government organization working in a Hmong Remote Translation Office.

I am TESOL certified and have a certificate in Public Speaking which can be provided upon request.

Experience

Since 2011 I have had experience in written translation from Hmong to English, English to Hmong, and Thai to Hmong. I have also given both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation from English-Hmong, Thai-Hmong and Thai-English. This has included interpretation for groups of up to 7,000+ at one time. I have served not just as a language bridge, but as a cultural bridge between English and Hmong communities.

I am a fluent speaker of the White Hmong dialect but can easily understand the Green Hmong dialect.
