Chris is a freelance Arabic–English translator. He became proficient in Modern Standard Arabic through many years of study in the U.S. and the MENA region (Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco). He has earned professional Arabic–English translation credentials from the American University in Cairo, including the Foundational Certificate in Translation and Interpreting (2021) and the Professional Diploma in Media and Audiovisual Translation (2023). While pursuing his Graduate Diploma in Middle East studies, he authored a chapter of Translating Egypt’s Revolution: The Language of Tahir published by The American University in Cairo (AUC) Press in 2011. Translation work is not new to Chris. It was a major focus of his two-decade career with IIAR, an international trade association, which culminated in a 6-year period as International Programs Director. Throughout this phase, he was the translator and editor responsible for developing Spanish (and some Portuguese) language content for various industry publications and events hosted across the US and Latin America. As a freelancer, Chris focuses on Arabic to English translation. He would also consider full or part-time translation positions provided they allow for remote work.
