माँ बनना स्वयं में एक आनन्ददायी व संपूर्ण अनुभव है। यह प्रक्रिया तभी से आरंभ हो जाती है जब एक स्त्री गर्भ धारण करती है। गर्भ धारण करने से लेकर शिशु के जन्म तक स्त्री शिशु से अनेक प्रकार से संवाद करती है फिर चाहे वह संवाद उसकी भावनाओं का हो या पेट पर हाथ फेरकर सहलाने का हो। शिशु समस्त भावों को समझता है तभी तो गर्भवती स्त्रियों को अच्छा संगीत सुनने, अच्छी पुस्तकें पढ़ने अथवा अच्छा सोचने के लिए कहा जाता है। | Translation - English
Becoming a mother is a joyful and fulfilling experience. This experience begins from the very moment a woman conceives her baby. From conception until the birth of the child, the woman communicates with her baby in various ways, be it by expressing her feelings to the baby by talking to the baby in the womb or by softly caressing her bellly and so on. The baby also seems to understand all the emotions of the mother. That is precisely why mothers are encouraged to listen to good quality music, read good books and think positively through the pregnancy. |

ஆலயங்களில் தேவாரம் பாடும் வழக்கம் எப்போது எப்படி ஏற்பட்டது என்பதை அறுதியிட்டுக் கூறமுடியவில்லை. ஆனால்
அவ்வழக்கம் மிகவும் பழமையானது என்பது மட்டும் கல்வெட்டுக்களால் கண்டறியப்படுகின்றது.
இராஜராஜசோழர் சோழநாட்டின் அரியணை ஏறியது 985-ஆம் ஆண்டு. அவர் வாழ்ந்த காலத்துக்குச் சில நூற்றாண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் தோன்றியது தேவாரம். | Translation - English
We do not have conclusive information on when and how the tradition of singing "Thevarams" (devotional songs or poems dedicated to Lord Shiva) in temples actually began. But we do know through evidence found in several stone carvings and excavations that this is indeed a very ancient tradition.
Raja Raja Chola assumed the throne of the Chola kingdom in 985 AD. The origins of the Thevaram can be traced back to several hundred years before his lifetime. |
