Hi, my name is Marina! I’m a native Catalan and Spanish translator working from English and Japanese.

I specialise in the fields of audiovisual translation, education, health care and sustainability. I strive to create translations with inclusive language, and I use my subtitling skills and passion for video game localisation to work towards better media accessibility.

- Professional member of the Spanish Association of Audiovisual Translation and Adaptation (ATRAE)

- Professional member of SUBTLE - The Subtitlers' Association

- Associate member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) as well as a member of its regional network, Yorkshire Translators and Interpreters (YTI)

Professional subtitling (including spotting!)

I provide frame-accurate time-coded subtitles including captions for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences. I have experience subtitling films, TV shows and interviews as well as e-learning courses and corporate videos.

My mission is to put my language skills to good use and add my grain of sand to achieve a fairer and greener world by enabling communication between people and making media accessible to everyone.

Make your audience feel included

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I can provide advice on queer translation and non-binary language. I'm also developing in the field of inclusive language more widely, especially concerning dementia-friendly texts and plain language.

Education

BA in East Asian Studies by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with a specialisation in Language and Humanities of East Asia (Japanese). 4th year spent at Ritsumeikan University (Kyoto, Japan).

MA in Audiovisual Translation Studies from the University of Leeds (England, UK).
