In the 1960’s a young entrepreneur, Claus Jurgen Kersting was visiting Ireland in search of raw material for his German company, Marth Naturdarme. This German company produces natural casings for the Sausage industry and exports worldwide. The raw material is a natural product sourced from abattoirs, of which Ireland has many. During his visit, he saw the potential to develop his business in Ireland and in 1970 he started discussions with the I.D.A. He chose Tullamore because its central position in Ireland and close proximity to the meat abattoirs, allowing access to raw material and also convenient for distribution, made it an ideal location to build up this new venture. Another favourable factor was the availability of a young workforce in Tullamore and the surrounding area. With this in mind, he purchased a site in Spollanstown Industrial Estate with the intention of building a factory selecting natural sausage casings. The factory was completed and, in May 1972, Irish Casing Company was established in Tullamore.
The company went from strength to strength, exporting casings all over the world and in the early 1980’s expanded its operation into producing offal and meat products, employing in excess of 300 workers throughout Ireland. Forty years later, through the endeavours of dedicated management and staff, it has developed into one of the very successful enterprises in Ireland. Our products are produced and packaged under our own brand name. The Irish Casing shamrock is now recognised in many countries throughout the world and our high profile products are much sought after.
The company has strategic alliances in Germany, Poland, Spain, Belgium, UK and Iceland. Irish Casing Company now has over 150 employees in Ireland and a further 150 employed in Iceland, Egypt, Poland and China, who work in teams for selection of sheep and pork casings, derived from raw material harvested in Ireland, throughout the EU and New Zealand. A recent development over the past few years has been an alliance with the abattoirs of Iceland. A close bond has been forged between them and Irish Casing Company to the extent that this year all lamb casings in Iceland will be produced by Irish Casing Company, along with many other offal products which will be marketed under the Irish Casing Company brand.
Most of our raw materials are sourced from beef / pork / lamb plants in the Republic of Ireland which are all EU approved establishments, working under strict hygienic conditions supervised by the Department of Agriculture.

Primovist is a gadolinium-based contrast agent for Tl-weighted magnetic resonance imaging of the liver. In dynamic and delayed imaging, Primovist improves the detection of liver lesions (e.g. number, size, segmental distribution and visualization) and provides additional information regarding classification and characterization of focal liver lesions, thereby increasing diagnostic confidence.
The safety profile of Primovist has been established in more than 2400 patients in clinical trials and in more than 3.6 million post-marketing administrations. The most frequently observed adverse drug reactions (> 0.5%) in patients receiving Primovist are nausea, headache, feeling hot, blood pressure increased and dizziness. As with other GBCAs, adverse reactions following Primovist administration are generally mild to moderate in intensity and transient in nature.
The most serious adverse drug reaction in patients receiving Primovist is anaphylactoid shock. Anaphylactoid reactions ranging to shock are listed as an important identified risk in the RMP for Primovist.
Nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) is considered an important potential risk. To date, no case reports of NSF have been received in association with Primovist® from any source.
Benefit-Risk Context - Medical Need and Important Alternatives
Primovist has unique properties which make it an effective contrast agent for liver imaging. At the clinical dose of 0.025 mmol/kg, an early arterial contrast enhancement is followed by a portovenous enhancement due to the presence of Gd EOB DTPA in the vascular and extracellular space. Subsequent uptake of a significant portion of the dose (about 50%) by normal hepatocytes (the only target cells of Gd EOB DTPA) leads to parenchymal enhancement of the liver which is seen in delayed images several minutes after injection and
lasts about two hours. Lesions with no or minimal hepatocyte function (cysts, metastases, and most HCCs) will not accumulate Gd EOB DTPA. With its high uptake into hepatocytes, gadoxetate disodium positively enhances the healthy liver parenchyma in Tl-weighted images as early as 10 to 20 minutes post injection.

В динамике и при вос-произведении изображений (в виде цифр, размеров. сегментарного распределения и визуализации) Примовист улучшает выявление поражения печени ( и предоставляет дополнительную информацию относительно классификации и характеристики места поражения печени, тем самым увеличивая доверие к результатам диагностики.
Во время клинических испытаний при введении Примовисты, при рисовании профиля (печени), была установлена безопасность введения у более 2400 пациентов и в более 2,8 миллионах учреждения по ее продаже. Наиболее часто у больных, получающих Примовист, наблюдаются побочные реакции (> 0,5%): появляются тошнота, головная боль, жар, повышение артериального давления и головокружение. Как и в случае с гадодиамидами (GBCAs- Gadodiamide) после введения Примовисты, побочные реакции Примовисты возникают, и носят переходный характер, от легкой до умеренной степени интенсивности.
Наиболее серьезной побочной реакцией, возникающих у пациентов после применения Примовисты (Primavist) - анафилактоидный шок. Указанные реакции необходимо учи-тывать как один из факторов риска при анализе крови на РМП.
Нефрогенный системный фиброз является потенциально опасным риском. По данным Национа́льного нау́чного фонда (англ. National Science Foundation, NSF), полученных из различных источников, на сегодняшний день у пациентов, принимающих Примовист побочных эффектов не выявлено.
Медицинские потребности и важные альтернативы в контексте риск - польза
Примовист (Primovist) обладает уникальными свойствами, которые эффективно применяют в качестве контрастного вещества при визуализации печени.
