Source text - English 3. Benefits
3.1 Estimated retirement Benefit at retirement date as specified above
• Your estimated lump sum benefit at retirement date above expressed in today’s money terms; : $ 12 000 000
• If you elected to take a monthly pension at retirement instead of a lump sum, you will receive an estimated pension expressed in today’s money terms; : $ 90 000 000
• Tax free portion (transfer value from AIPF – regarded as contributions not previously ranked as a deduction for tax purposes). : $ 263 000 000
(1) The estimated lump sum benefit at retirement has been projected assuming that investment returns are 3.5% per annum higher than the salary increases over the long term. Your final benefit will be more or less than the projected benefit depending on the future course of investment returns and salary increases up to your assumed retirement.
The projected benefit should thus be regarded as illustrative and not in any way guaranteed. For members who joined the Fund on or before 1 September 1996 and who are entitled to the minimum retirement benefit, the benefit shown is the greater of the projection calculated as above and the estimated minimum benefit specified in the Fund Rules.
(2) The estimated lump sum benefit has been converted into a pension after making provision for future pension increases of some 50% of the inflation rate (although such future increases are not guaranteed and depend inter alia on future investment returns and how long pensioners live).
If you have provided details of your spouse, the pension also allows for 50% of your pension to be paid to your surviving spouse on your death.
If you are not married or have not provided details of your spouse, your pension has been calculated as if you do not have a spouse – If this is incorrect and you have a spouse, the amount of your estimated pension on your statement is overstated.
(3) The monthly pension in respect of a UNISARF pensioner, electing a life pension (and not a living annuity pension), is payable until date of death of the longest living of the member and the spouse.
Translation - French 3.
