I have studied English and Czech at the Institute of Translatology of Charles University in Prague (graduated in 1996).

After that I have been engaged in several hundreds of local as well as international translation projects mainly for the automotive industry, but also in many legal matters for Czech courts as well as corporate clients.

In 1999, I was nominated the sworn-court translator of the English and Czech languages, so I am authorized to do certified translations to be used when required by courts, authorities, corporate lawsuits etc.

My specialty are legal texts, automotive (quality management systems, OHSAS, ISO, SQA etc.), computers, hardware, software, marketing, accounting, general engineering (operating instructions), printing + publishing, corporate identity, corporate design.

Apart from standard Office formats (docx, xlsx, pptx), I am able to work with Framemaker, Indesign, Acrobat Pro and directly edit source files (fm, indd, pdf) in these applications or to save them as sdlxliff files in order to use Trados to translate them and afterwards to check and repair format in target DTP applications. I am able to manage these complicated projects with several of my colleagues in order to meet a short deadline, e.g. for a big catalogue, pricelist, portfolio of handbooks etc.

I am also able to decode any Word, Excel or pdf file password-locked only for viewing in order to translate it in its original format (Word, Excel) or to use an OCR software to prepare it into Word (pdf).
