I am looking for work as a translator. I am a 36 year old woman from Tampere, Finland.
At the moment, I live in Spain with my husband and we are both working as translators.
I acquired my education at the University of Tampere, where I studied English philology, audiovisual media culture and philosophy. I also accumulated my language skills by working as an Aupair in New York for almost two years before my university studies.
During my studies I worked as a translator for Fujitsu. My job was to translate the company’s internal website from Finnish into English. I also translated various contract papers and notes from meetings.
I started work as a television translator in the spring of 2008, when I began working for PrimeText and VSI Ordkedjan. I have also done translation work for Ordiovision and IMS. At the moment I’m mainly working for BTI Studios.
Television translation practices have thus become very familiar to me. The translation software I mainly use is Titlevision, but I also use Swift for translations that require time coding.
I've also done gaming related localization and proofreading projects for Localsoft.
In addition to translation work, I have several years of experience in restaurant business. I read a wide variety of literature (mainly novels), which makes my vocabulary excellent. It has also contributed to my vocabulary that I have translated many different types of TV shows during my career as a translator (everything from reality TV to movies and historical documentaries).
I am an extremely dedicated and effective worker and I understand the importance of punctuality and adherence to deadlines in this line of work. I am ready to take on assignments at a very short notice. I think of myself as a creative, conscientious and meticulous person.
I am ready to do a sample translation or come for an interview to tell more about myself. |
