My professional experience includes 6 years of living and working in Japan as Resident Manager for my Company’s joint venture (JV) with Sumitomo Chemical. I was located at Sumitomo Chemical's headquarters and was involved with the JV’s business activities in Japan and throughout the Asia Pacific Region.

While in Japan, I studied the Japanese language intensively, learning to read, write and speak Japanese at an intermediate level. I was awarded a Certificate of Proficiency for passing Level N3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), also known as Nihongo Nouryoku Shiken.

After returning to the US, I worked for the Toray Group (America). I was Technical Marketing Manager for 3 years with responsibility for the expansion of Toray’s composites business across all market segments in the US.

With my direct Japanese experience, I have proven ability with the proofreading and editing of business correspondence, legal and technical documents, and patent applications. I have also become knowledgeable about the Japanese people, culture and business practices. Finally, I have a strong technical background with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
