As a translator, writer and poet, the written word has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. Originally from Southern New England's Connecticut River Valley (USA), I've spent the last 12 years in the Nagano uplands of central Japan. I have a deep connection to this country and an intimate familiarity with Japanese culture that informs my work; I have been a permanent resident here since 2015.
In my "past life" in the States I spent more than three years working in New York City's travel industry. Travel has been in my blood for nearly as long as I've been writing—besides my years in Japan I have cumulatively spent nearly three years in over 20 countries.
I currently live in a village of less than 900 people at the foot of a sacred mountain surrounded by dense forest and inhabited by more monkeys than you’d care to meet. It is a fantastic environment for work and writing. I’ll be glad to put my travel industry experience, linguistic skills and familiarity with Japanese culture to work for you.
