I am currently reading Stephen Davis' book Butterflies are Free to Fly. I like his humorous style of self- introduction. I would like to follow his way to introduce myself.
I am Apeng Shang. Some of my friends and colleagues call me Ann. (Stephen wrote "usually I stop here". But seems this is not enough...)
I am a Chinese lawyer with 12 years legal experience. I worked as in house counsel for 8 years and subsequently became a licensed lawyer. In my daily work I have done a lot of translation because my clients are often based in Japan, Italy, Australia, US and other countries. English is our working language. Therefore translation in Chinese and English is a must on many occasions.
In Dec 2010 I joined Think IP Strategy where I translated a lot of blogs and essays of IP lawyers and IP strategists. I also translated two books The Defense of Mieza Hchip and50 IP Mistakes and How to Avoid Them written by my colleague IP strategists, Duncan Bucknell, Lee Caffin and Robert Cantrell. The English versions have been published, and the Chinese versions will be available soon.
As a lawyer I provide legal advice for clients. And as a translator I help people to communicate and understand each other. Both are interesting work which I enjoy a great deal. |
