I am a native German speaker and an English-German translator based in Co. Sligo, Ireland, where I have been living and working for the past ten years.
I started my career as a commercial correspondent in English and French. While at Frankfurt University studying English Literature and Linguistics, I continued to work part-time as a foreign language correspondent. I graduated with a Master's Degree in English Philology and Film, Media and Theatre Studies.
I not only have a background in languages, but also in film making. My work as a documentary film maker includes translation of my own film treatments and correspondence, as my projects are geared to both English and German speaking clients. I have excellent writing and research skills in both languages. Being a camera assistant has honed my technical skills and comprehension of technical language.
I completed a distance learning course in English-German translation with "Special Merit" at WLS in Dublin - a course with practice-oriented translation tuition. I also have solid IT skills (Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office Access, Microsoft Office PowerPoint).
With each freelance project I undertake, I can guarantee a high standard of quality, delivered on deadline. I prefer to see a project before taking it on. Depending on the level of text complexity, my rate is between € 100 and € 140 per 1000 words. The minimum fee I charge is € 35.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, and I hope you will take my service into consideration. |
