Source text - English Clara woke to the familiar sound of voices raised in the street below her window. The dawn had not yet transformed the darkness of her little room in the boarding house from black to grey, but it soon would. Her window was not glass, but oiled parchment that let in some light and a great deal of cold. She pulled the wool blankets close to her chin, pressed her body into the thin mattress, and listened while the married couple in the street berated one another again, as they did more mornings than not. He was a drunkard and a little boy in a man's broken body. She was a shrew who drank a man's blood and ate his freedom. He was sleeping with whores. She was giving all the coin he earned to her brother. The litany of marital strife was as common and boring as it was sad. And saddest of all, Clara thought, was that the two of them couldn't hear the love on which all their resentments were built. No one shouted and wept in the street over someone they didn't care about. She wondered what they would make of it if she sought them out and told them how very, very lucky they were.
When at last she rose, the light was enough that she could see the winter's cold turning her breath to smoke. She got quickly into her underthings, and then a dress with stays up the side where she could reach them without a servant girl's help. Under other circumstances, she would still have been wearing mourning clothes, but when one's husband is slaughtered by the Lord Regent as a traitor to the throne, the rules of grief are somewhat changed. She made do with a small twist of cloth tied around her wrist and easily covered by her sleeve. She would know it was there. That was enough.
As the light waxed, she washed her face and put up her hair. The sounds in the street changed. The rattle of carts, the shouting of carters. Dogs barked. The sounds of Camnipol in the grip of winter. Dawson had hated being in the capital city during winter. Winter business, he'd called it, and his voice had dripped with contempt. A man of his breeding should spend the winter months on his lands or else with the King's Hunt. Only now, of course, there were no lands. Lord Regent Geder Palliako had taken them back for the crown, to be doled out later as a token to someone whom he wished to reward. And Clara was living on an allowance scraped together by her two younger sons. Her eldest boy, Barriath, was gone God only knew where, and her natural daughter was busy clinging to her husband's name and praying that the court would forget she had ever been called Kalliam.
In the common room, Vincen Coe sat by the fire, waiting for her. He wore his huntsman's leathers, though there was no hunt to call in the city and the master he'd served was dead. The perfectly ridiculous love he professed for Clara shone in his eyes and in the uncertain way he held himself as she walked into the room. It wasn't at all dignified, but it was flattering, and despite herself she found it endearing.
"I've saved you a bowl of the morning oats," he said. "And I'm making fresh tea."
"Thank you," she said, sitting beside the little iron stove.
"May I be permitted to walk with you today, my lady?" It was a question he asked every day, like a child asking a favor of a beloved tutor.
"I would be quite pleased with some company, thank you," she said, as she often did. Often, but not always. "I have several errands today."
"Yes, ma'am," Vincen said, and did not ask what they were, because he knew.
She was going to overthrow the crown and, if she could, destroy Geder Palliako.

Source text - English There’s nothing I get asked about more as a parent than unschooling, and nothing I recommend more to other parents.
It’s an educational philosophy that provides for more freedom than any other learning method, and prepares kids for an uncertain and rapidly changing future better than anything else I know. My wife and I unschool four of our kids, and have been for several years.
And yet, as powerful as I believe unschooling to be, I’ve never written about it, because the truth is, I certainly don’t have all the answers. No one does.
The beauty of unschooling is in the search for the answers. If anyone had all the answers, there would be no search. And so what I’d love to teach unschooling parents and kids is that the search is the joy of it all.
But I’m getting ahead of myself: what is unschooling? Why should you do it? How do you do it? What should you read? We’ll talk about all that today.
What is unschooling?
First, it’s a form of homeschooling. But there’s no easy answer to that except in comparison to regular schooling. There’s no one way to do unschooling, and people who do it often do it for many different reasons in many different ways.
However, this is how I describe it — in contrast to school:
While school has classes with subjects, unschooling doesn’t.
While school has goals set by teachers and the school system, the unschooler (the kid) set his or her own goals.
While in school, knowledge is handed down from the teacher to the student, in unschooling the student is empowered to learn for himself.
While school has specific books or sets of learning materials, unschoolers can learn from anything — books they find, things on the Internet, siblings or parents, the outdoors, museums, people working in interesting fields, anything.
While school is structured, unschooling is like jazz. It’s done on the fly, changing as the student changes.
While students in school learn to follow instructions, unschoolers learn to think for themselves and make their own decisions.
While students in school are asked to learn at pace arbitrarily set by administrators, unschoolers learn at their own pace.
While in school, learning happens in the classroom at certain times, in unschooling learning happens all the time, and there is no division between learning and life.
Let me emphasize that for a minute: in unschooling, life itself is learning. There is no “doing school” … you are learning all the time.
Unschoolers learn just like you or I learn as adults: based on what interests them, figuring out how to learn it on their own, changing as they change, using whatever resources and learning materials they find, driven by curiosity and practical application rather than because someone says it’s important.
This is how I learn as a self-employed writer, as an entrepreneur, as a parent. It’s how our children will learn when they’re adults. Why not have them learn like that now?

Это мировоззренческий подход к образованию, который даёт больше свободы, чем любой другой метод, и готовит детей к изменчивому будущему лучше всего, что я знаю. Мы с женой обучаем таким способом четверых наших детей и делаем это на протяжении нескольких лет.
И ещё, несмотря на то, что я считаю анскулинг очень перспективным, я никогда не писал о нём, потому что я просто не знаю этого предмета целиком. И никто не знает.
Красота анскулинга заключается в поиске ответов. Если бы у кого-то были ответы на любые вопросы, то отпала бы нужда в творческом поиске. И вот то, чему я постоянно учу и родителей, и детей, практикующих анскулинг - получайте удовольствие от творческого поиска.
Но я забегаю вперёд. Что же такое анскулинг? Почему вы должны им заниматься? Как вы будете это делать? Какие книги и статьи вам необходимо прочитать? Об этом мы и поговорим.
Что такое анскулинг?
Во-первых, это форма домашнего обучения. Но это общее описание, на вопрос «что это такое» нет конкретного ответа. Описать анскулинг легче всего через сравнение с обучением в обычной школе. Не существует единственно правильного способа заниматься анскулингом. Люди, которые практикуют его, делают это по разным причинам и разными путями.
Как я описываю его — в сравнении со школой:
- В школе есть уроки и предметы, в анскулинг - нет.
- В школе есть цели, поставленные учителем или системой образования. Ребёнок, обучающийся по системе анскулинг, самостоятельно ставит свои собственные цели.
- В школе знание «спускается» от учителя к ученику. Практикуя анскулинг, ученик самостоятельно добывает знания.
- В школе обучение идёт по учебникам или специальным пособиям. Занимающийся по системе анскулинг учится, используя любые доступные источники - книги, сайты, информацию от сверстников, родителей, окружающую среду, людей, работающих в интересных местах и т. д.
- Школа имеет чёткую структуру, анскулинг - как джаз. Он развивается на лету, меняясь вместе с учеником.
- В школе ученики привыкают всё делать по инструкции. Занимающиеся анскулингом учатся думать самостоятельно, принимать собственные решения.
- В школе учатся в ритме, заданном учителем. Занимающиеся анскулингом учатся в собственном ритме.
- В школе обучение идёт в классах в специально назначенное время. В практике анскулинг обучение происходит постоянно, нет различия между процессом обучения и жизнью.
Эту особенность я хочу подчеркнуть: в практике анскулинг сама жизнь является обучением. Нет никаких «уроков» и «домашнего задания» - ты учишься постоянно.
Занимающиеся по системе анскулинг учатся так же, как и мы, взрослые: опираясь на то, что им интересно, самостоятельно выясняя как побольше узнать об этом, меняя концепции в процессе собственного развития, используя любые ресурсы и обучающие материалы, которые можно найти, руководствуясь любопытством и практическим применением, а не чьим-то авторитетом.
Так я учусь как писатель-фрилансер, как предприниматель, как родитель.Так наши дети будут учиться, когда станут взрослыми.
