Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) with constipation is a treatable medical condition. It’s characterized by these recurring symptoms over time – the “ABCs”:
Abdominal pain or discomfort

What is Drug X?
Drug X is the first – and only – medicine proven to relieve all three symptoms of IBS with constipation in women. Drug X is a medicine for the short-term treatment of women who have IBS with constipation as their main bowel problem. Women with this medical condition suffer from abdominal pain or discomfort, bloating and constipation. Drug X does not work for all women and has not been shown to work in men with IBS.
How does Drug X work?
Drug X works differently from laxatives, fiber and other medicines. It imitates the action of serotonin, a naturally occurring chemical in the body that helps keep your gastrointestinal (GI) tract working normally. Only prescription Drug X helps coordinate the nerves, muscles and fluid in the GI tract, so it starts functioning more normally.
How do I take Drug X?
Drug X should be taken twice a day or as prescribed by your doctor. Drug X is a small tablet you take on an empty stomach, shortly before a meal. It’s best to develop a regular routine for taking Drug X, such as before breakfast and dinner. Your doctor may prescribe Drug X for up to 6 weeks to treat IBS with constipation symptoms. If you feel better, your doctor may prescribe up to 6 more weeks of Drug X.
Getting the most out of Drug X.
Your doctor will decide how long you should take Drug X. For best results, follow your doctor’s instructions and take Drug X exactly as prescribed. If you stop taking Drug X, your symptoms may return within 1 or 2 weeks. Also, try to eat a balanced diet. Remember that while diet is not the cause of the condition, certain foods can aggravate your symptoms. You may wish to limit these foods. DESCRIPTION
The PIP Fixation Hinge is an external fixation device designed to control rotation of an injured finger to regain, maintain or increase the range of motion of the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint. It utilizes small diameter wire fixation techniques and procedures for placement and is intended to be centered on the axis of rotation. The device is designed to permit adjustment on the axis of rotation. Consult surgical technique for recommended procedures. Composition of the device permits radiographic visualization
During treatment the patient must adjust the device. Under advice from the surgeon, the patient must turn a knob that moves the phalanges through flexion and extension of the PIP joint. The knob can be retracted to allow disengagement from the gear. With the worm disengaged, the two braces slide freely permitting active motion for rehabilitation. The PIP Fixation Hinge is made from plastic and metal materials. The component material is provided on the outside carton label. Do not mix components from different manufacturers. All components are designed for single use only.
INDICATIONS
1. Post-traumatic PIP joint contracture which has resulted in lost range of motion.
2. Fractures and disease of the fingers, PIP joints and hands which generally may result in joint contractures or loss of range of motion.
CONTRAINDICATION
The device is contraindicated for use in uncooperative or mentally incompetent patients who are unable to follow the postoperative regimen.
WARNINGS
1. Wire placement requires strict anatomic considerations to avoid damage to nerves or blood vessels. The wire should be gently pushed through soft tissue, not drilled, to reduce possibility of injury.
2. Wire drilling in the bone should be done slowly to avoid heat necrosis of surrounding tissue and bone.
3. Use caution when handling the sharp tips of the wires. The tip of the wire should be held when clipped. Eye protection is recommended for operating room personnel.
4. Wire site care is crucial in reducing localized infections.
5. Intraoperative fracture or instrument breakage can occur. Instruments which have been used extensively or with excessive force are susceptible to fracture. Examine all instruments for wear and damage prior to surgery. Replace where necessary.
