SARA MARIA HASBUN: Managing Director of Meridian Lingusitics
A former freelance translator, I now manage a small team of highly-skilled project managers and translators specializing in Asian, Middle Eastern, and European translations.
Subject area specializations:
Legal: Clients must remain anonymous but include American, Korean, and multinational law firms.
Technology: Clients include Naver, Alibaba, and several Korean IT firms.
Life Sciences/Pharmaceuticals/Clinical Trials: Clients include Bayer, Yonsei, Daiichi Sankyo, as well as many American research universities.
Incorporated in Hong Kong, our fully-remote team works from Hong Kong, Korea, France, and the US, in order to cover all timezones for our clients with urgent translation needs.
I am an American citizen and native English speaker.
Educational Background:
I graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Linguistics and Psychology and then received a translation certificate from the accredited program at NYU SCPS (Spanish > English, French > English) with a specialization in commercial and legal documents. I also worked as a graduate researcher at New York University in the field of Cognitive Science, where I became very familiar with the language of clinical trials and academia. Over the last ten years, I have lived and worked in the US, Nicaragua, Spain, China, and Korea.
Prior to working as a freelance translator, I was a Project Manager at Geotext Translations, an agency specializing in legal translations. At Geotext I proofread thousands of legal documents (which further honed my legal translation abilities) and managed hundreds of high-profile projects involving international teamwork and tight deadlines.
