Source text - English Identifying community leaders supportive of the young gay and bisexual men’s community.
In every community there are certain individuals whose opinions carry enormous weight and who exert great influence on what happens there. Often these people hold official positions that give them their power, such as a city councilmember, director of a social service agency, or business owner. These can also include a business owner whose business is of relevance to this Project, such as a bar owner/manager, a newspaper owner, or someone who produces gay community events. Most communities also have leaders who hold no formal position and have acquired their influence solely through personal characteristics or their history of involvement in the community.
These individuals’ opinions about the Project are extremely important and can, in many ways, influence the Project’s success. As a first step, Project staff should brainstorm a list of key community leaders, and then discuss how to gain their support for the Project. Next, ask friends, coworkers, and staff at other agencies for names of possible community leaders. It is a good idea to meet with each of these influential persons to inform them about the Project, ask for their advice, and enlist their support.
If it is determined that it would be helpful to have a Community Advisory Board, then it is useful to assess whether these people should be asked to join it. (See Module 11: Community Advisory Board for more information.)
Ways of collecting Community Assessment information
There are a number of different methods that can be used to collect useful information about your community. Certainly the best source of information about young gay/bisexual men is men themselves. Much of what a Project needs to know can be learned by talking directly with young men, as well as through discreet and unobtrusive observation at places frequented by young gay/bisexual men. It is also helpful to interview key people in the community who are knowledgeable about:
- The different groups within the young gay/bisexual male population
- Relevant issues in the larger gay community that may affect the Project
- The history of HIV prevention approaches already tried in the community

En toda comunidad, la opinión de determinadas personas influye de forma decisiva y ejerce un enorme peso en todo lo que sucede. Muchas veces estos ciudadanos ocupan algún cargo oficial que les confiere poder e influencia, son miembros del consejo de la municipalidad, directores de servicios sociales o propietarios de algún negocio, (propietarios/gerentes de bares, propietarios de periódicos o solamente organizan eventos gay en la comunidad). En muchas ocasiones, las comunidades tienen líderes que no ocupan ningún cargo importante, simplemente han ido adquiriendo influencia por sus cualidades personales o por su implicación y participación en la comunidad.
Las opiniones de estos ciudadanos con respecto al Proyecto son sumamente importantes, pueden afectar de múltiples formas y constituir un elemento clave para el éxito del mismo. Para ello, en primer lugar, el personal del proyecto debe crear una lista de individuos influyentes dentro de la comunidad y discutir cómo obtener su apoyo. A continuación, preguntar a amigos, compañeros de trabajo y personal de otras agencias, los nombres de posibles líderes comunitarios. Siempre es recomendable reunirse con todas estas personas influyentes para informales acerca del Proyecto, pedirles apoyo y registrarlos en el mismo.
Si se considera útil celebrar un consejo comunitario, es conveniente evaluar si estas personas deberían asistir a él. (ver Módulo 11: Consejo Comunitario, para mayor información).
Diferentes métodos para la recopilación de información comunitaria.
Se pueden utilizar diferentes métodos para reunir información útil acerca de la comunidad gay/bisexual. Indudablemente, la mejor fuente de información son ellos mismos. Casi toda la información que el Proyecto necesita acerca de los jóvenes gay/bisexuales se puede obtener hablando directamente con ellos y observando su comportamiento en los lugares que suelen frecuentar. Asimismo, es conveniente entrevistar a personas influyentes de la comunidad que conozcan bien:
• Los distintos grupos de jóvenes gay/bisexuales dentro de la población.
• Los temas más relevantes entre la comunidad gay que podrían determinar el modelo de proyecto.
• Los intentos de prevención de VIH realizados previamente en la comunidad.

Renewable sources of energy – wind power, solar power (thermal and photovoltaic), hydro-electric power, tidal power, geothermal energy and biomass – are an essential alternative to fossil fuels. Using these sources helps not only to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from energy generation and consumption but also to reduce the European Union's (EU) dependence on imports of fossil fuels (in particular oil and gas). In order to reach the ambitious target of a 20% share of energy from renewable sources in the overall energy mix, the EU plans to focus efforts on the electricity, heating and cooling sectors and on biofuels. In transport, which is almost exclusively dependent on oil, the Commission hopes to increase the current target of a 5.75% share of biofuels in overall fuel consumption by 2010 to a 10% share by 2020.
Renewable Energy Road Map
The Renewable Energy Road Map assesses the share of renewable energy in the energy mix and the progress made in this area. It also includes the target of producing 20% of total EU energy consumption from renewable energy sources by 2020, as well as measures for promoting renewable energy sources in the electricity, biofuels and heating and cooling sectors.

Su uso no sólo permite reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero derivados de la producción y del consumo de energía, sino también permite disminuir la dependencia de la Unión Europea (UE) en las importaciones de combustibles fósiles (en particular de petróleo y gas).
Para alcanzar el objetivo ambicioso de una porción del 20% de energía derivada de fuentes renovables en la combinación energética global, la UE planea enfocar sus esfuerzos en los sectores de la electricidad, calefacción y refrigeración, así como en los biocarburantes.
