I am a French to English translator based in Bristol, UK.

I work on a wide variety of translation projects but I specialise in international development. I also have significant experience in other areas including marketing, legal, financial, environment and ecology.

I am a native English speaker with a profound knowledge of French language and culture gained by living, working, and travelling extensively throughout France.

Working with the latest CAT tools, I can ensure high-quality translations that not only are consistent and accurate, but which are also engaging and read well in the target language.

Qualifications

I have an MA in Applied Translation Studies from the University of Leeds, during which I gained experience of translating various text types including: journalistic, administrative, technical, and literary. I was also trained to use a wide array of translation, localisation, project and terminology management tools.
I also have a BA in French and Russian from the University of Sheffield.

Experience

My first taste of professional translation was an in-house position at the offices of the French nuclear power company Areva. Here I translated various confidential documents, but in particular I was there as part of a project to translate training manuals for nuclear power plant operators. Working in Areva offices, I was able to consult senior engineers for clarification and terminology.

My recent freelance projects have included: an NGO report on religious extremism in Cameroon, transcreation of a press release for a major worldwide spirits brand, marketing materials for a luxury chocolate company, a trait introgression agreement for an agricultural research company, a newspaper article about pesticide levels in food, field surveys on farming in Mali, the website of a French multinational telecommunications company.
