Source text - English The justification for investing in small cap equities has long been the subject of fierce debate. Oftentimes, the debate focuses on the risk associated with this asset class relative to the stock market in general. No one can argue that this asset class involves higher risk, but does it produce superior returns? The graph below shows the long term annual returns of an index of small cap Canadian stocks compared to thereturns of the Toronto Stock Exchange Composite Index from 1950.
