CULTURAL AWARNESS

I have been living in Scotland since April 2008 and have an understanding of the British culture, which is vital when working as a translator. My passion to languages is not restricted only to English. I learnt Spanish at my university and also at the Cervantes Institute, attending different courses and then travelling in Spain and through different Central American countries such as Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico. Actually visiting these countries has been a breakthrough in my life as since then I have become more passionate about Spanish. My adventure journeys have significantly helped me to master my Spanish. I had a chance to mix with local communities. This allowed me to understand different dialects of this widely spoken language. Moreover I could visualise everything I wrote in my Bachelor’s thesis. My dissertation was about religious syncretism in Mexico. I wrote on the fusion of diverse religious beliefs and indigenous people practices to the Christianity. During writing my thesis I had to refer to many Spanish and Latin American publications.

My passion for foreign languages is not only restricted to the mentioned above. In the secondary school I was in the linguistic class where I learnt English, German and Latin. In effect Latin language became a bedrock to understand Spanish and Italian. I studied at the University of Calabria in Italy, as a part of the Socrates / Erasmus programme, where I sat all exams in Italian. I found it very fascinating to study in an international environment. I learnt German starting in the primary school, then secondary school and at the same time attending private tuitions and different courses at the Austrian Institute and the Goethe Institute obtaining the proficiency level.

I guarantee a professional and high quality service.
