Background and professional history summary:
Born in Egypt, within a multilingual family, of Hellenic Nationality, with English, French Italian and Greek spoken at home, educated in British Schools, and subsequently in Greek Schools all this followed by higher education in English universities.
Lived in Alexandria, Egypt up to my 15th year, thence continued my lower education in Greece, and followed through with my higher education in England. I graduated in engineering and shipping studies, which included management, operations, insurance and law.
Was partner in a Shipping company, and handled ship-management, sale-and-purchase, claims and arbitrations for claims and contracts’ disputes. My partners, (substantially older), went into their pensions and I moved to Romania in 1991, where I acted as a free-lance trouble shooter for a class A European Bank which financed Romanian industry, and then proceeded with the development of educational projects, such as the enhancement and modernisation of vocational training and re-equipping technical Universities with modern laboratory equipment.
Co-founder of ERGOROM 79, a Romanian NGO whose purpose is to advance vocational training to young non-specialised persons and promote employment of Romanians abroad.
Appointed in 1997, as professor-adjunct and lecturer to the Romanian University of Alexandru Ghika, in commercial and shipping law.
Also am appointed in 2002 as Adjunct professor to the faculty of Engineering Management at the Utah Valley State College University and as director for all expansion of granting credits in education of this University in the Balkans, Eastern Europe and the Middle East (due to my knowledge of spoken Arabic resulting from by having been born in Egypt and my shipping activity in Arab countries).
My Romanian company has been acting as consultants for businesses that wished to establish in Romania, for companies wishing to associate with or take-over others, setting-up or founding various business or other cooperate agreements, arbitrating in commercial differences, ironing out disputes, coordinating businesses, organising logistics’ operations, acquisition of equipment, etc.
Translations of documents has been going on as a matter of course within my Company’s activities, and entailed translations of agreements, translations and interpretation of law, verbal simultaneous translations, advertising logos, manuals, educational texts, directives to employees, etc.
Presently temporarily residing in Greece due to family reasons, my Romanian company being technically still active, in parallel to my status as consultant, I have taken up translation and project management work as a source of income. (for referent languages, see my PROZ profile).
