Source text - English This cursed land was once home to a noble, enlightened civilisation, known to its allies and emissaries as the Blessed Isles. However, more than a thousand years ago, an unprecedented magical cataclysm left the barrier between the material and spirit realms in tatters, effectively merging the two… and dooming all living things in an instant.
Now, a malevolent Black Mist permanently shrouds the Isles, and the earth itself is tainted by dark sorcery. Mortals who dare to venture to these dismal shores will slowly have their life force stolen away from them, which in turn attracts the insatiable, restless spirits of the dead.
Those who perish within the Mist are condemned to haunt this nightmarish place for eternity—worse still, the power of the Shadow Isles appears to wax stronger with every passing year, allowing the most powerful spectres to roam farther and farther across Runeterra.
Translation - Romanian Odată, aceste ținuturi blestemate erau căminul unei civilizații nobile și iluminate, botezate de aliați și emisari drept ''Insulele Binecuvântate''. Acum mai mult de o mie de ani, un cataclism magic de proporții nemaiîntâlnite a rupt bariera dintre tărâmul material și cel al spiritelor; în cele din urmă, cele două s-au unit, iar toate ființele au fost condamnate pe vecie.
Acum, insulele sunt înconjurate permanent de cețurile malefice ale Negurii Întunecate, iar pământul e pângărit de o forță magică întunecată, secătuind forța vitală a muritorilor care se încumetă să-l străbată și atrăgând spiritele înfometate ale morților.

Source text - English The Northern Steppes ain’t the place for fancy undies and golden piss pots. It’s tough land. Ain’t nothing go here but barbarian raiders, poison grass, and harsh winds. To survive, you gotta eat rocks and crap lava. And I’m the toughest, meanest, killingest bastard in these parts. So I figure that makes these plains mine.
“But how did I end up here? And why am I alone with yer dumb yella hide?” I say out loud, starting it off again.
Skaarl snorts her response from the rock she’s sunning herself on. Her scales is dark metal with hints of gold. Ain’t nothing can break that drakalops’s skin. I’ve seen a steel sword shatter against her leg.
Don’t make her farts smell any better though.
“I’m callin’ you a damn coward. You got somethin’ to say about that?”
“Greefrglarg,” it says as it looks up and yawns.
“It was a hooked grouse! No bigger than my hand. And you run… Darn dumb, stupid animal!”
“Greef…rglarg?” Skaarl asks as it swats the flies away from its half-opened eyes.
“Oh, good retort! Yeah, real funny, right? Ha ha ha! I’m damn tired of yer heretical pontifications. I should leave ya here to die. That’s what I should do. You’d die o’ loneliness. Hell, you wouldn’t last a day without me.”
Translation - Romanian Stepele nordice nu-s pentru filfizoni și spilcuiți. Îi grea viața aici. Nu găsești nimic în afară de barbari, iarbă otrăvitoare și vânturi năprasnice. Ca să supraviețuiești, tre' să te-nveți să mănânci pietre și să bei sudoare. Iar eu îs cel mai al dracu' de prin părțile astea. Carevasăzică, pământurile astea-s ale mele, dacă nu mă-nșel.
– Dar cum de-am ajuns aici, însoțit doar de-o șopârlă prostănacă? încep eu iar să povestesc cu voce tare.
Skaarl îmi chiorăie un răspuns de pe piatra pe care stă la soare. Solzii ei îs de-un negru metalic-auriu. Nimic nu poate străpunge pielea tare de drakalops. Odată, am văzut o sabie de-oțel cum s-a frânt de piciorul ei.
Chiar și-așa, tot vânturile lighioanei îs cele mai primejdioase.
– Da, ești o lașă, pe legea mea. Ai ceva de zis?
– Grifrglarg, îmi răspunde urâcioasa cu-n căscat.
– Era un biet cocoș de munte, mare cât palma mea, iar tu ai luat-o la picior, ca o neghioabă!
– Grif...rglarg? mă-ntreabă Skaarl și alungă muștele ce i se adunaseră pe bot.
– Vai, bun răspuns, ce să mai zic! Ești tare amuzantă. Ha ha ha! M-am săturat de bolboroselile tale car' mai de care mai deștepte. Ar trebui să te las singură aici, să văd, ce te mai faci? Da, da, asta ar trebui să fac. Ai muri de singurătate, asta ai face. Fără mine, n-ai rezista nici măcar o zi.
