Bio
Hi there,

Since graduated from Faculty of Arts, Cairo Univ., in 2004, I found myself passionate to translation. I love my mother tongue Arabic and studied English linguistics, literature, and translation. I would say that translation is a craft; it is much more than a job. Hardworking, practice and continuous learning have been all the time my pillars for gaining experience and professionalism in translation.

My resume contains just a brief of my 11 years experience as an English-Arabic translation; from full-time to freelancer; from legal translation through localization to oil industry. It is a journey I am living with all my senses. I further supported my professional experience with a number of translation and non-translation studies and courses.

In my work, I have adopted a definition of translator given in a book by a well-known professor of translation, Dr. Mohammed Anani of the same faculty I graduated from, a figure in the field, a shining star in translation with many wonderful books:

(a translator is a writer.) Yep, it should be the concept in mind... (a writer but who writes/formulates the ideas of others). Hence, it is a difficult job; you need to transfer people's ideas and feelings; not just their words!

Best regards,

Moataz Mohammad
