Translation - English Erector spinae plane block (ESPB) was initially introduced by Forero et al. as a novel approach to the treatment of chest pain. It has been successfully used for postoperative analgesia following major abdominal surgery. It has been described for shoulder pain, total hip replacement and breast surgery, and its successful use in a variety of indications can be explained by the spreading the local anaesthetic to the paravertebral area associated with the needle insertion point.
