Source text - Japanese 2 控訴人は、平成20年8月1日、東京都中央区長に対し、本件届書を提出したが、これは、被控訴人に対し本件届出をすることの連絡や被控訴人の承諾を得ずに、控訴人が独自に行ったものである（原審控訴人）。また、被控訴人が本件届書の届出人・妻欄に署名したことを認めるに足りる確実な証拠は存しない。
加えて、被控訴人と控訴人は、平成20年1月以降は別居していたが、控訴
人は、同年５月ころ、被控訴人に対し、母の入院の世話を依頼し、同年10月
27日には、被控訴人と揃って、長男の結婚式に出席していたのであり（甲8、
10、原審被控訴人、同控訴人）、本件届出当時、離婚をうかがわせるような
状況も存しなかったのである．
以上によれば、被控訴人に本件届出をする意思がなかったことは明らかとい
うべきであるから、本件離婚は無効というほかない。
Translation - English 2 On August 1, 2008, the Appellant submitted the divorce application in question to the head of Chuo Ward in Tokyo, but this was performed by the Appellant independently, without contact or other acknowledgement from the Appellee. Furthermore, no reliable evidence exists to establish that the Appellee did indeed provide the signature in the “wife” column of the said divorce application.
In addition, although the Appellant and Appellee lived separately starting January 2008 onwards, the Appellant requested the Appellee to care for his hospitalized mother around May of the same year, and even attended the wedding ceremony of his eldest son together with the Appellee on October of the same year (Exhibit A8, A10). At the time the document in question was executed, their relationship was not in a state that would warrant a divorce.
Based on the above, it is clear that the Appellee did not have the intent to divorce, and thus the divorce in question is invalid.

So yeah, I figured, you know how there was this low-budget horror movie about this house, and all this weird stuff happenin’ in it?
