Bio
Paula Góes
I am a professional translator, proofreader, editor, journalist and writer based in London-UK since 2002.
I currently work as Language Lead for TripAdvisor. This means that I am the voice of authority for TripAdvisor in Brazilian Portuguese, working in a team of international linguistic experts, localization leaders and translation decision-makers who are a key part of the TripAdvisor Localization team’s success. I am responsible for in-country editing, proofreading and in-context review/testing of content for Brazil, including TripAdvisor websites and apps, communication with property owners and managers, communication with community of travellers, promotional newsletters and policies.
I translate and edit every single day, and have a vast array of personal and translations interests: breathwork, literature, poetry, journalism, media, communications, news, freedom of expression, activism, gender issues, queer and feminism, human and animal rights, environment, psychology, meditation, politics, alternative living, cooperatives, transparency, cryptocurrencies, civil disobedience and all kinds of disruption for the common good.
Languages
My mother tongue is Brazilian Portuguese, I am a fluent English speaker and am very interested in languages in general; Spanish and French are among my goals, and Hungarian is my dream.
My main working pair for translation is English -> Brazilian Portuguese, but I can translate from Portuguese into English, always with the aid of a professional native speaker proof-reader. I also write original texts in both languages. Please contact me to find out more about how I can help you with your text.
Green and ethical
My services are as green and ethical as possible: my electricity and gas are supplied by Octopus, my internet provider is PhoneCoop, I bank with the Co-operative Bank and Triodos, and live in a housing coop. I shop locally as much as possible.
