Source text - Japanese
| Translation - English This is the distribution of our refineries and plants. Here the word "plants" refers to chemical and lubricant factories that don't refine crude oil. You can see that they are distributed around the country in a relatively balanced way. Total crude capacity is currently 1,327 kBD (approx. 34% of total in Japan) or roughly the same as the production ratio and market share I just introduced. |

Source text - Japanese 3

| Translation - English Third is the generational turnover of personnel. Many refineries in Japan were built during the period of rapid growth following the war, and are now more than 40 or 50 years have passed since their construction in the 60's and 70's. Personnel who were hired at 18 at the time of construction are now past 60, and in the past few years there has been a lot of generational turnover. Based on data from our refineries, the blue graph on the left shows the age distribution of personnel in 2011, and the red graph on the right shows that in 2013. You can see that in 2 years there was a mass retirement of experienced personnel and recruitment of new personnel has expanded. It goes without saying that the passage of operational techniques and skills from veteran personnel to the younger co-workers is an important point for maintaining safe and stable operation at refineries. |

Source text - Japanese
| Translation - English The goal of an energy business is to resolve the issues of energy problems, environmental conservation, global warming, etc. that face us today.
The Great East Japan Earthquake forced us to re-acknowledge the importance of a reliable energy supply. The best mix of energy sources has come under discussion, and we have been reminded of the importance of energy conservation.
In order to build a society where sustainable development is possible, we must consider how to most efficiently utilize limited energy resources, and suppress greenhouse gas emissions.
On the other hand, if you look at the energy indicator trend, the improvement effect in Japan has reached a ceiling and its superiority to other countries/regions in this area is shrinking.
For this reason, continuous efforts are needed to reduce the energy burden on the environment. |
