During World War II, tens of millions of people died. In addition to those who lost their lives in the fighting, the Nazis in Germany killed millions in cold blood.
When the war ended in 1945, the victorious nations met to decide how to prevent such acts from happening again. They formed the United Nations to advance human rights and peace.
The United Nations created the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the first truly universal human rights document. Eleanor Roosevelt, the woman who led the committee that created this document, stated that the Declaration grants rights for all Mankind.
The United Nations also took other steps. One was to create international laws to protect human rights, a process that took almost twenty years. International laws are laws agreed upon by many countries, and so they apply not just in one country but in all the countries that agree to them.
The countries that belonged to the United Nations also brought these rights to the rest of the world. As a result, the basic laws of many nations today include the rights contained in the Declaration.
On December 10th, 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; Eleanor Roosevelt holds a copy of the document she helped create.

What follows are all the rights contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. When the Declaration was first published in 1948, the United Nations asked all member countries to circulate the document and to teach these thirty rights. In this way, the Declaration becomes very well known and understood, resulting in a better, more peaceful world.

Selama Perang Dunia II, Puluhan Juta Manusia Tewas. Selain Mereka Yang Kehilangan Nyawa Dalam Peperangan Tersebut, Para Nazi Di Jerman juga membunuh jutaan lainnya dengan sadis.
Saat peperangan berakhir pada tahun 1945, Negara-negara pemenang mengadakan pertemuan untuk membicarakan bagaimana mencegah kejadian tersebut terjadi lagi. Mereka membentuk PBB untuk kepentingan perdamaian dan hak asasi manusia.
PBB menciptakan Deklarasi Universal Hak Asasi Manusia, yang merupakan dokumen paling pertama mengenai hak universal. Eleanor Roosevelt, wanita yang memimpin komite yang menciptakan dokumen ini, mengatakan bahwa Deklarasi ini menjamin hak-hak seluruh umat manusia.
PBB juga mengambil langkah-langkah lainnya. Salah satunya adalah dengan menciptakan hukum internasional, yang prosesnya memakan waktu selama hampir dua puluh tahun. Pada tanggal 10 Desember 1948, PBB mengadopsi Deklarasi universal Hak Asasi Manusia; Eleanor Roosevelt menyimpan sebuah salinan dari dokumen yang tercipta dengan bantuannya.

Deklarasi Universal Hak Asasi Manusia
Di bawah ini adalah seluruh hak-hak yang tercantum di dalam Deklarasi Universal Hak Asasi Manusia. Saat Deklarasi tersebut pertama kali dipublikasikan pada tahun 1948, PBB mengajak semua anggotanya untuk mengedarkan dokumen tersebut dan mengajarkan ke-tiga puluh hak-hak tersebut. Dalam perjalanannya itu deklarasi tersebut menjadi terkenal dan semakin dipahami, sehingga menghasilkan sebuah dunia yang damai dan lebih baik.
