Source text - English The first part of the upgrade was easy for BMQ's development team, because they has a suitable engine already. The R1800R uses the high-cam, four-valves-per-cylinder boxer motor from the R1800RT, and despite a slightly different exhaust system has an identical peak output of 109 bhp at 7500 rpm. This means that as well as adding 24 bhp tot the peak output of the previous 1.130 cc powerplant, the new motor incorporates features including dual spark plugs, sodium-filled exhaust valves, lighter pistons and crankcases, and a contra-rotating balancer shaft. It also has a modified six-speed gearbox in which top is a conventional ratio, rather than a taller overdrive as on the RT.
