I’m a nerd and a geek, and my professional passion is language and translation. I grew up bilingual (Chinese and English) and spent my undergraduate career studying Japanese, writing a thesis on classical Japanese texts, and then spending some three years teaching English in Japan.


I returned to the US and knew I wanted to keep working with languages, which led me to graduate studies in translation and localization at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. I worked as a project manager in this field for several years before becoming a freelance translator.


My training is focused on quality for a translation’s target audience. Accuracy is often a moving target in translation and my aim is always to make sure the translation makes good sense to its readership. I have worked on texts and documents in many fields/formats and have much to offer from my experience as a translation manager and translator.
